MY
HEART IS FIXED
by Ray Prinzing
"He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed,
trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall not
be afraid." (Psalm 112:7-8).
In one of his
descriptive phrases of the ungodly, Jude refers to them as
"wandering stars." (verse 13). This comes from our Greek
word "planetes" from which we got our English word "planet," which
speaks of those celestial bodies which move through the heavens in
their orbits, as compared to the FIXED stars. While there are
still those who "orbit" around some fleshly personality, some creed,
some doctrine; there are also those, who, like the Psalmist, are
able to declare, "O God, my heart is fixed." (Psalm
108:1).
There are they who are
growing up in Christ, "unto a perfect man, unto the measure of
the stature of the fullness of Christ; that they henceforth be no
more children, tossed to and from, and carried about by every wind
of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby
they lie in wait to deceive. But speaking the truth in love, shall
grow up into Him in all things, which is the Head, even Christ. (Ephesians
4:13-15).
One cannot guide another
into the way of truth, if they, themselves, are always being carried
about by some new wind that blows. But when God imparts a
revelation, it becomes the basis for out faith, the substratum upon
which we can become firmly fixed, that we be not deceived, nor
become afraid when pressures increase, and the enemy comes against
them in conflict.
If one is already
wandering about in the realms of uncertainty, confusion and doubt,
this negative atmosphere generates fear and more distrust. But
the more we become FIXED IN GOD, strengthened with the knowledge of
His sovereignty, His total control over all that touches our lives,
and the sure hope that we are anchored to the Rock, in this positive
realm we can be "steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the
word of the Lord." (1 Cori8nthians 15:58).
Fixed is my heat, the
lot is cast,
The indecisive hour has passed,
In righteousness, in Christ to dwell,
Fixed is my heart, and all is well.
